Future Developments

The growth and development of The Living Desert has not been haphazard,
but rather based on a Master Plan, of which much has been realized. With
a continuing eye to the future, the park seeks to build a $20 million
endowment fund, which would assist in providing long-term stability for
our organization. This stability will aid in pursuing the broad goals
of the Master Plan, which are to maintain the 1,800 acre desert preserve,
to expand The Living Desert’s educational programs and exhibits,
to increase conservation activities both home and abroad, and to continue
to develop programs that make us an important educational and recreational
asset to the Coachella Valley.
Projected Dates for Future Exhibits and Buildings:
2008 Steve Chase Administration Building
2009 Discovery Center
2010 Phase 2 of the African Savanna with lions
