Watch nature transform at The Living Desert's hummingbird and butterfly exhibit, featuring over 30 different beautiful species of butterflies and several species of hummingbirds roaming freely in a spacious screened house, Children and adults of all ages can experience these delightful creatures! The exhibit features a butterfly themed gift shop, Pupa Emergence Room, lush gardens and fountains. Admission: Non-members $2; Members: Free

G-scale Garden Railroad

The Living Desert
With the world's longest double-tracked wooden trestle and more than 3,000 feet of track, the railroad has grown to almost one acre with seven distinct layouts. Trains roll past a coal mine, a California mining and logging town, the historical Indio Train Station, Mount Rushmore, the south rim of the Grand Canyon, Main Street USA and The Rocky Mountains with a Main Line train traveling throughout the entire Garden Railroad. Realistic scenes featuring scale-model people, animals and vehicles, and ongoing landscaping, enhance the display even further. Exhibit is closed from June 1st through September 30th.

Howl-O-Ween Harvest Happening

More treat than trick, this fall festival is for all the party animals. Miriam U. Hoover Discovery Center Grand Opening

Visitors of all ages can also understand, and learn about the Coachella Valley region in this new 3600 square foot green-designed building that inspires the discovery of the four elements that comprise the desert - sun, wind, water, and sand. There is a fossil wall, sloth skeleton, full-scale mammoth illustration with an actual tusk, nighttime desert room, biofact drawers, hands-on activities and so much more! ZooFest

Tickets $10-$35 in advance, $15-45 at the door A fantastic night of family fun celebrating the grand opening of the Miriam U. Hoover Discovery Center. Live music from the Ninja Stars, free carousel rides, desert animals, costumed characters, clown, balloon sculpting, face painting, Dr. Zoolittle and Professor Wylde, deluxe appetizers, beer, wine, cocktails and kid-friendly drinks. We carry more specimen plants than ever before and have many "Hard-to-Find" rare, desert plants. All garden decor, books, garden art, pottery, benches, tools and fountains are discounted also.

Jazzoo Concert Series at The Living Desert

During the 2010-2011 season each concert will feature the music of a different jazz legend played by Roger Neumann and Friends. Reserved cabaret style indoor table seating provides the audience with an intimate and vibrant musical experience. Advance paid reservations are required. Many of the Jazz patrons enjoy bringing a picnic basket of scrumptious goodies, along with a bottle of wine. Concerts are scheduled November through March. Mousetrap Invitational Golf Tournament
