CORPORATE PHILANTHROPY
The word philanthropy is derived from the Greek, meaning love for mankind. Corporate philanthropy refers to donations to non-profit organizations or individuals, directly from the corporation. Corporate philanthropy has become a part of corporate philosophy encompassing social responsibility and includes cash gifts, product donation, matching employee gifts and volunteerism. It is considered a sound business practice and is often included as part of a company's mission. An understanding has developed of the importance of linking a corporation with the community it serves. Corporate philanthropy benefits the business, the stakeholders in that business, and the community.
