Get Up Close and Personal with some of our Amazing Animals!

Come join the coolest Desert Jr. Naturalist Club in the Desert! Gecko Explorers offers children the unique opportunity for exploration through direct observations and hands-on experiences of our desert plants and animals. Come see for yourself how cool the desert can really be! Classes will include a behind the scenes tour at The Living Desert, an opportunity to get up close and personal with a critter. Come see what it's all about!

Classes are taught on Saturdays beginning November 7th thru March 27th with the following exceptions: No class on 11/25/09, 12/19/09, 12/26/09, 01/02/10, Sessions run from 9:00 - 12:00 p.m. for ages 6 - 14. Please bring a snack and water bottle.

Gecko Explorer activities vary weekly, and may include:

• Exploring behind-the-scenes at The Living Desert


• Creating enrichment objects for the animals


• Talking to Zoo Keepers


• Studying animal behavior and habitats


• Geology hikes (formations of mountains, rocks, sand)


• Nature related crafts, games and songs

Daily tuition costs are $30 for members and $40 for non-members. Register online for 6 classes and get one free! Registration begins October 15th.
