How can I purchase a membership?

There are several convenient ways to purchase a membership;

  1. For fastest service, join now on-line!
  2. On your next visit to The Living Desert, just stop by the Membership window located at the front gate.

Can I purchase membership as a gift for someone else?

Yes, at the membership window, our website, or by phone.

How early can I come in with my Living Desert Membership?

All members, and their accompanied guests, can come in as early as 7am through the “Members Only” gate. The only day we are closed is December 25.  

Can I give my guest passes away, or does the guest have to be with me?

Guest passes are loaded onto your membership card and will be deducted as you bring in guests. If you would like them printed to give away, we would be happy to assist you at the membership window.

Is The Living Desert membership based on the calendar year?

Your annual membership is valid for one year from the date of purchase, so you receive a full 12 months of zoo and garden fun! Make The Living Desert a daily part of your summer vacation fun this June 1st to September 30th with a summer membership! 

Can I apply the cost of my general admission tickets toward a membership during my visit?

Yes, just save your receipt and we can apply a portion of your admissions on the day of your visit.  

What if my membership card is lost or stolen?

You can order a replacement membership card by contacting the Membership Office by emailing or by calling 760-346-5694, ext. 2134 or by making the request at the membership window at the park. There is a $5 fee for replacement cards.

Is my Living Desert membership good at other zoos, aquariums, gardens and arboreta?

Can a friend or family member use my membership card?

No. Memberships are nontransferable and are valid only for the person (or persons) whose name(s) appears on the card. This is why you must show a photo ID when you enter The Living Desert using your membership. As a nonprofit organization that relies heavily on membership and attendance for support, we must prevent misuse of our membership cards.

If the other named adult is unable to come with me, may I bring a guest in their place?

No, but you may purchase a guest pass and enter at the member time.  

Is my membership payment tax-deductible?

A portion of your payment is tax-deductible. Deductible amounts can be found under the membership levels on the membership Benefits page.  

How do I get to The Living Desert?

From Hwy. 111 in Palm Desert, turn south on Portola Ave., go 1.5 miles, follow signs to main entrance.
From Interstate 10 take the Monterey exit and turn south. Go south approximately 6 miles and turn east (left) on Hwy.111. Follow directions above when you reach Portola.

There’s plenty of free parking! 

When do I get my membership card?

You can pick up your membership card on your first visit to The Living Desert at the admissions window.
