The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is pleased to present the live show, “Guardians of The Living Desert.” The 20-minute, family friendly show is free with paid admission to The Living Desert.
Starring the same three lively dinosaurs from last year’s Zoorassic Park stage show, this year Tyrannosaurus Rex Brutus, Parasaurolophos Penny and baby Triceratops Trixie help educate the audience about the importance of conservation and taking care of our planet.
Brutus, the seven-foot tall, 15-foot long from nose to tail, T-Rex growls, snorts and roars his way into the hearts of onlookers. His sidekick Penny stands 10 feet tall and 17 feet long, while baby Trixie rounds out the trio, showcasing a unique personality all her own.
Following each show, Brutus and Penny host a meet-and-greet, where kids can interact with them and pose for photos. While in the amphitheater after the show, guests can purchase a special Guardians of The Living Desert bracelet to show their support of the zoo’s conservation efforts. Junior paleontologists also have the opportunity to dig for fossils. Dinosaurs are also available for “adoption” and dinosaur-themed souvenirs are available for purchase.
The show’s life-like dinosaur characters were designed and hand-built by Chiodo Bros. Productions, a Hollywood creature-making team whose work has been featured in such films as “Critters,” “Elf,” “Dinner For Schmucks” and “Gremlins.”
Guardians of The Living Desert is scheduled to play daily at the Tennity Amphitheater at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. through April, and returns in the fall.
