Enjoy three days with Living Desert staff as we explore the secrets of Sedona. One of the highlights of our trip will be to travel the Verde Canyon Railway which traverses what is often called "Arizona's other Grand Canyon" with spectacular canyon scenery offering seasonal spring flowers and hundreds of migratory birds, such as the majestic bald eagle. Passengers enjoy this four-hour scenic train ride aboard renovated passenger coaches and open-air viewing cars pulled by vintage locomotives. The Verde Canyon Railroad is often referred to as the finest train ride in Arizona and has been acclaimed as Arizona’s longest-running nature show. The remote wilderness of the Verde Canyon located west of Sedona and below Jerome, is renowned for its towering red rock pinnacles and clean, green waters. The train rolls past Indian ruins, through a 680-foot man-made tunnel, over old-fashioned trestles and under clear azure skies. This picturesque setting is further enhanced by the variety of indigenous flora and fauna and the many migrating waterfowl. Over thirty bald and golden eagles winter in this riparian respite each year.
Highlights of our 2 and 1/2 hour guided tour of Sedona include the fascinating story of Arizona's natural history and geology which created extraordinary rock formations of world renowned beauty.
Trip includes escorted round trip motor coach transportation, snacks, bottled water, two-night accommodation, continental breakfasts, one dinner, Verde Canyon Railway tour and a 2 and 1/2 hour guided tour of Sedona. All other meals and bus driver gratuity are not included.
