February 16-17, 2010
2 Days/1 Night
Members $325, Non-members $350

We'll head to Las Vegas, our overnight base, for a fun-filled two-day visit to local attractions.

First up is a tour of the power plant at Hoover Dam which offers a combination of presentations by reclamation guides, audio and film presentations, exhibits and other media that provide a comprehensive view of the massive dam and its operations, as well as the many unique features around the site. It takes about two hours to discover all the features of Hoover Dam. The next morning, we're off to Valley of Fire State Park which is located only six miles from Lake Mead and 55 miles northeast of Las Vegas. Valley of Fire is Nevada's oldest and largest state park, dedicated in 1935. The valley derives its name from the red sandstone formations and the stark beauty of the Mojave Desert. Ancient trees and early man are represented throughout the park by areas of petrified wood and 3,000 year-old Indian petroglyphs.

Trip includes escorted round trip motor coach transportation, snacks, bottled water, guided tour of the power plant at Hoover Dam, one night accommodation in Las Vegas, continental breakfast, half day archaeologist-guided tour of Valley of Fire State Park, boxed lunch and scenic drive through the Lake Shore Drive/Lake Mead Area. Other meals and driver gratuity are not included.
