The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is honored to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. On April 22, 1970, 20 million Americans participated in public walks, meetings, and protests to raise awareness of environmental problems and to push for acknowledgement that we were putting the Earth and ourselves in jeopardy. One outcome of this effort was passage of critical environmental laws in the United States including the Clean Air, Clean Water and Endangered Species Acts. And, although we can’t celebrate together this year, we can celebrate virtually.
Commemorating this milestone anniversary of Earth Day during The Living Desert's own historic 50th Anniversary is very special. The Living Desert continues to bring awareness to the issues that threaten all species, especially threatened and endangered species, and to inspire us all that making small, simple changes CAN and DO make a difference. After all, it doesn't take a lot, but it does take us all to save wildlife and wild places. Will you join us?
