Sand Beneath Their Toes:  Similarities And Differences In Ecology Of The Coachella Fringe-Toed Lizard And The Desert Plated Lizard Of Namibia

Sand-specialist lizards in the dunes of the Coachella Valley and Namibia have solved living in desert dunes in ways that are similar, but different.  Dr. Chris Tracy, Director of the Boyd Deep Canyon reserve, will talk about the research by Deep Canyon staff to understand the strange behavior and lifestyle of the desert plated lizard from the Skeleton Coast of Namibia, and the intimate connection between that research and long-term projects in the Coachella Valley by Deep Canyon researchers.
