STEM Career Day
10:00AM - 2:00pm at The Discovery Center Pavilion
This event is free for members or with paid park admission.
The Living Desert is committed to fostering the next generation of conservation heroes. Thanks to an IF/THEN® grant, we will be unveiling the display The STEAM in Me: Sparking STEAM Curiosity in Young Innovators at our Discovery Center pavilion on February 11th, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Our goal is to inspire diverse learners to engage in scientific exploration and inquiry to address the environmental challenges of today and tomorrow. We hope that young visitors will see themselves reflected in the featured STEAM Ambassadors and know that they too can change the world.
From 10:00am - 2:00pm on February 11th, K-12 students are invited to meet professional women in STEM, learn about their professions and organizations, and have the chance to interact and ask questions. There will also be hands-on STEM activities inside the Discovery Center and raffle prizes for children of all ages.
STEM representatives will include women from: Accounting, Animal Care, Conservation, Conservation Education, Engineering, Information Technology, and more! The Living Desert's ZooTeens and Zoo Volunteers will also be sharing their experiences and how to get involved at The Living Desert.
