The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is excited to announce that WildLights will return to the Zoo – with a spring twist! Nightly, March 15-28, 2021, WildLights of Spring, will delight guests of all ages with light displays, delicious fare, and memorable moments. Tickets are now on sale!

WildLights of Spring will take guests on an illuminated journey around the Zoo with vantages of select animal habitats including the emus of the new Australian Adventures, and new for Spring, a portion of the African Safari loop will be open for guests to see cheetahs, zebras, African wild dogs, and more. Plus, there will be new music for the light zones – including the Tunnel of Lights, Dazzling Gift, and Discovery Center. Guests can take a spin on the carousel and make s’mores around a fire, for an additional fee. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.

The Living Desert will honor unused WildLights 2020 tickets during the WildLights of Spring event. Guests will need to call The Living Desert to exchange their unused ticket(s) for a new date/time. For tickets, exchanges, and more information visit LivingDesert.org or call (760) 346-5694.

    $14 general admission 

    $12 members, military (with I.D.)

    How do I purchase tickets for WildLights of Spring evening? 

    Advanced reservations are required for both members and guests. Tickets may be purchase online or by calling (760) 346-5694

    Can I use my tickets on any night? 

    No. WildLights of Spring tickets are valid only on the specific date and time for which you purchased your tickets. 

    Why are there timed entry tickets? 

    Timed-entry tickets help us regulate how many people are in the Zoo at any given time.  This helps us provide a safe, socially-distanced evening for all. Once inside the event, guests may stay until the event ends. 

    We’ve placed a limit on attendance each evening to ensure proper social distancing, as well as provide a better experience for guests ensuring that large crowds do not form.  

    I purchased my tickets online, but never received the tickets or confirmation? 

    Try checking your SPAM or Junk email folders.  The sender is “eGalaxy Store” <estore@livingdesert.org> 

    You will receive a confirmation email from "eGalaxy Store" <estore@livingdesert.org>, and your ticket order will be attached as a PDF. 

    If you are unable to locate the tickets, please contact the Guest Experience Center for additional assistance at (760) 346-5694.  

    Will there be tickets available day-of? If tickets are sold out online, will there be tickets available at the gate? 

    No tickets will be sold at the gate. All tickets must be purchased in advance. 

    When should I buy my tickets? 

    We recommend purchasing tickets as far in advance as you can, as we anticipate selling out. Tickets must be purchased in advance; tickets will not be available at the gate. 

    Do I need to bring my membership card and photo ID even though I used my ID number to buy my ticket online? 
    Yes, we reserve the right to check member cards and photo IDs at the gate.  

    Are group discounts available? 

    Yes, groups discounts are available for groups larger than 15 guests. However, the tickets must be purchased in advance and are not available for purchase onsite. To purchase group tickets, please call the Guest Experience Center at (760) 346-5694.  All tickets must be purchased for a particular date and time. The Living Desert will not have a will call available.  Group discounts are for general admission tickets to WildLights of Spring only.   

    What COVID-19 safety precautions are in place? 

    We prioritize the health and safety of all guests, staff, volunteers, and animals. Our health and safety precautions  

    • Limited Entry – We have implemented capacity limits to ensure proper-social distancing. 

    • Advanced Reservations Required – Guests are required to make timed ticketing reservations to provide for contact-free and expedited admissions. 

    • Face Coverings – All guests 3 and older must wear a face covering while on zoo grounds. 

    • Other measures include: social distancing, closure of high-touch areas, and more.

    Can I enter the Zoo before the event starts? 

    On each event evening, the Zoo will be cleared of all daytime guests, including members and guests with pre-purchased WildLights of Spring tickets at 5 pm.  At approximately 6:15pm each evening, the Zoo entrance gates will open for pre-admission into the Living Legacy Garden. At 6:30pm, guests are welcome to explore all of WildLights of Spring.   

    Can you see the animals during WildLights of Spring? 
    WildLights of Spring will take guests on an illuminated journey around the Zoo with vantages of select animal habitats including the emus of the new Australian Adventures, and a portion of the African Safari loop will be open for guests the see cheetahs, zebras, African wild dogs, and more. 

    Where should we park?  
    You’re encouraged to arrive with ample time to accommodate for parking. Parking is located within the main Zoo lot, with overflow on Portola Avenue and surrounding streets.  Please be courteous when parking on neighborhood streets; do not block driveways, park in red/No Parking zones, or block in other cars.  Please be mindful of barricades and signage that is put into place to create a smooth parking experience for our guests. Also, please be expeditious when dropping off friends and family near the front gate so as not to impede the flow of traffic. 

    The Living Desert’s parking can fill up quickly. You can use your favorite rideshare app such as Lyft or Uber to save time and avoid parking inconveniences. 

    Allowed street parking locations include Portola Avenue, Haystack Avenue, and Buckboard Avenue.  

    Are gift shops and concessions open?  
    Yes, the main gift shop and select food and beverage outlets will be open. All food service will be take-away, and there will be limited seating areas provided.  Both offerings will be following all health and safety guidelines. 

    Palm Garden Outdoor Grill – Grill fare, along with a bar, snacks and beverages.  

    Churro Stop – Fresh, made-to-order churros, soft serve ice cream, and beverages.  

    S’mores Station – S’mores kits available, along with hot chocolate and snacks. 

    Are strollers and wheelchairs available for rental? 
    Yes, The Living Desert rents strollers and push-cart style wheelchairs from the front plaza for a $5 fee. Strollers and wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first served basis. 

    Will there be shuttles running? 

    No, for the safety of our guests, shuttles do not run during WildLights of Spring. Private tours are also not available during WildLights of Spring. 

    What is the refund policy? 

    WildLights of Spring tickets are non-refundable. If you pre-purchased tickets, but are unable to attend, consider giving them as gifts to friends or family.  WildLights of Spring is a rain or shine event.
