ZooCamp is the place for your budding naturalist to have some wild fun while exploring the natural world. ZooCampers will be enthralled by special activities, arts and crafts, behind-the-scenes experiences, and animal encounters that can only be found at The Living Desert.

 

Summer ZooCamp is a wonderfully wild adventure!

ZooCamp is the place for your budding naturalist to have some wild fun while exploring the natural world. Each week of camp offers a unique theme that utilizes STEAM based learning, exploration of desert environment, behind-the-scenes experiences, meeting animal care keepers, and so much more!

ZooCampers need to come equipped for outdoor activities and bring a Snack and Water Bottle each day. Our Summer ZooCamp programs are available for campers ages 4-13.

COVID-19 Policies: ZooCampers will be required to wear a face mask that covers their nose and mouths at all times while on grounds at The Living Desert. Any campers with a fever of 100.4 degrees (F) or higher will be asked to stay home.

Ages 4-5

Hop, Slither, Climb!  Learn how desert animals move in and around their unique desert habitats. Throughout this week of interactive camp activities, and up-close animal experiences zoo campers will discover some of the unique adaptations desert animals have to hop, slither, climb, and move around.

Zoo’s Clues  During this week of fun-filled activities campers will unlock hidden clues each day to explore the unique desert habitat and the species that call it home. Where do desert animals live? What do they eat? How do they stay safe? Up close animal encounters, crafts and games will help you find answers to these questions.

On the Menu  Discover all about the unique ways animals eat and find their food. Campers will get to meet with the animal keepers that care for our unique and amazing animals and learn all about how we feed them here at The Living Desert.

 

Ages 6-7

Mysteries of the Desert  Meet with animal keepers and discover the mysterious secrets of the desert and unlock daily clues about how animals live in the extreme desert environment.

Fantastic Feeders  Learn all about how we feed the animals in our care at The Living Desert. Discover the unique adaptations desert animals have to eat and find their food in this extreme environment.

 

Ages 8-9

Eco Heroes  This week of camp, campers will learn what actions they can take to be an Eco Hero and support conservation practices. From camp games, behind the scenes tours, making crafts, and other outdoor explorations we will investigate what you can do to help wildlife.

Zoo Designers  Discover all that goes in to designing safe and enriching spaces for our amazing animals and discover the conservation efforts taking place at The Living Desert. During this week of camp, campers will get to visit unique behind the scenes areas and meet some of our amazing animals.

 

Ages 10-13

Wild Careers  Learn all about the wonderfully wild careers that take care of our amazing animals, plants, and support conservation efforts at The Living Desert.

Nature’s Naturalists  Explore gardens, study animal behavior, and learn about The Living Desert’s incredible conservation projects.
