Experience the wild side of The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens during Safari Nights, every Saturday night in September from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

In addition to taking in the sights and sounds of the native and exotic animals in the evening, Safari Nights activities also include scorpion hunts, astronomy, and bat detector stations, plus live entertainment provided by Zulluu and Andy Cahan of The Turtles. Food and beverage tastings and specialty cocktails will be available for purchase.

“Safari Nights allows our guests to see The Living Desert in a whole new light – the light of the moon,” said Dawn Petrick, The Living Desert’s Director of Park Services. “We invite people of all ages to join the fun.”

During the first hour of Safari Nights, guests can explore the North American side of the park, with the African section staying open for the remainder of the night. In addition, guests can pre-register for a guided tour of Eagle Canyon, where they will explore bobcats, swift fox, kit fox, ringtails and badgers, plus a visit to the zoo’s animal hospital, for an additional $20 per person.

Each Saturday in September will feature a different theme. Saturday, September 2 is Tacos & Tequila with taco specials at the Thorn Tree Grill and tequila and specialty drink tastings at the café, Discovery Center and in Village WaTuTu. September 9 and September 23 are family movie nights with animal themed movies being screened in the amphitheater. Nocturnal Animal night is on Saturday, September 16 with special night time Wildlife Wonders show and crafts in the Discovery Center. To close out the month, on September 30, Safari Nights will celebrate Oktoberfest with craft beer and themed food and entertainment. The events are open to all ages, however guests must be 21 and older and show a valid photo I.D. to participate in the specialty cocktail tastings.

Admission to Safari Nights is $6 for members, $12 adults and $8 children ages 3-12. Children under 3 are free.
