THE LIVING DESERT CELEBRATES HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH WITH FREE ADMISSION FOR CHILDREN ON WEEKENDS SEPTEMBER 15 – OCTOBER 15PALM DESERT/INDIAN WELLS, CA • September 13, 2018
The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is proud to honor Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 through October 15. The celebration of culture at the Zoo includes one free child admission for every paid adult on each Saturday and Sunday throughout and culminates in the annual La Gran Fiesta on Saturday, October 13.
“This celebration is the first of many and kicks off the season here at The Living Desert,” said Dawn Petrick, Director of Park Services. “We invite everyone to come out, take advantage of the admission special and enjoy all that the zoo and gardens has to offer.”
La Gran Fiesta will close out the celebration on Saturday, October 13, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and is free for members or with paid park admission. Attendees at the big party will be treated to music by a local Mariachi band and Folklorico dance performers. Guests also will have the opportunity to enjoy a treasure hunt throughout the park and redeem their completed map for a free carousel ride.
During La Gran Fiesta, The Living Desert will also be raising awareness of the plight of the vaquita, the world’s most endangered marine mammal. Current estimates state there are fewer than 30 of these small porpoises left the world. Guests can adopt a vaquita and even create a complimentary take- home craft. As a special gift, the first 1,000 guests through admissions will receive a free pepper plant cultivated and grown at The Living Desert. (One plant per person, while supplies last.)
The Hispanic Heritage Month admission special is valid for daytime general admission only Saturdays and Sundays, September 15-October 14, 2018. This promotion cannot be combined with any other offer.
