2021 Spring Zoo Camps are going Virtual!

Zoos and aquariums can help create meaningful connections that enhance the public’s understanding of the need to conserve the places where animals live. At The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, education is in our mission and we are committed to providing exemplary learning opportunities that connect people with nature and desert conservation.
In 2019, The Living Desert served over 40,000 schoolchildren through our diverse assortment of educational programs. These experiences enable the community to better understand, appreciate and contribute to a future where humans live in balance with the world’s ecosystems.
The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens strives to create safe, engaging educational experiences for all ages and one program that is the perfect blend of learning and laughter is Spring ZooCamp. Studies have shown that participating in a camp experience provides children a unique outlet to problem solve and increase their self-esteem.
This year, The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens will be offering Spring ZooCamp as an online virtual experience designed for children ages 6-10. During the week of April 5-9, 2021 campers will be able to enjoy the fun of ZooCamp from the comfort of their home. Throughout this week of online camp activities, campers will learn about the unique desert adaptations to move, find food, and blend into the environment.
With this new virtual program and our other educational offerings, we hope to inspire future conservationists and create agents of change.

Did You Know...
- Our week-long online camp will take place from Monday through Friday 9:00-11:00am and will include live facilitation with camp games and themed activities, as well as special virtual content that includes animal meet and greets, behind the scenes access, and interviews.
- Each registered camper will receive a downloadable activity book with detailed activities, and discussion questions to continue the learning at home.
- It takes a team! We have worked with over 20 members of The Living Desert team, from the Animal Care, Conservation, Education, and Marketing departments to help create the virtual content and behind-the-scenes videos for our Virtual Spring ZooCamp!
