Bring Your Dog to the Zoo!
Friday, February 20, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Paws what you’re doing — The Living Desert is excited to welcome you and your dogs for a very special day! Simply purchase a dog ticket along with your family’s human tickets for February 20, and you can experience the sights, sounds, and smells of the Zoo together.
Come explore dog-friendly paths, snap adorable selfies, and enjoy a relaxed, tail-wagging day side by side. Dogs and their humans are welcome to stay and explore until the Zoo closes at 5 p.m. Please note: Dogs must be accompanied by an adult that is 18+.
At the Zoo, we truly understand how important animals are in our lives — both the ones we care for at home and those we protect around the world. This special event is our way of celebrating that bond and inviting guests to share meaningful Zoo adventures with their dogs, strengthening connections through exploration, learning, and unforgettable moments together.
Dog Day at the Zoo Map
It Is an Enriching Experience for Everyone!
Dog Day offers an enriching experience for both your pup and the animals at the Zoo, as they experience new sights, scents, and sounds. These unique opportunities allow the animals to engage in their natural instincts like natural protection, predation or pure curiosity.
Throughout your visit, take notice of how different species react. Do the meerkats sentry take notice? Do the mountain lions stalk? Do the bighorn sheep stare calmly?
A Note to Our Dog Parents
If you see your dog excessively panting, barking, or shaking, they might need a break. The best way to stop a dog from barking is to redirect by walking another direction.
If Zoo animals appear aggressive or agitated because of a dog’s presence to behavior, please move on with your walk.
Guests who are unable to keep dogs under calm control or need to be addressed by a Living Desert Team Member repeatedly may be asked to leave the Zoo without a refund.
Requirements
This is a very stimulating environment for your dog, and we paws-itively want you to all have fun. We (and they!) are counting on you to help create an enjoyable experience. Please note:
- A Dog Day admission ticket is required for each dog’s entry.
- This event is for dogs only. No other pets are allowed.
- This event is not recommended for puppies, sick dogs, dogs with active injuries (e.g. stiches, bandages), and female dogs in heat.
- Guests are encouraged to bring their own waste relief bags.
- Handlers should be adults and able to control their dogs at all times.
- Due to health regulations, dogs are not allowed inside restaurants but may be seated on outdoor patios.
- Leashes must be no longer than six feet and non-retractable. Leashes must be attached at all times, even if the dog is in a carrier or stroller.
- Keep those pups hydrated, handled, happy, and have a wonderfully wild day at the Zoo!
