World Giraffe Day-- Desert Style
8:00am - 9:30am
Though World Giraffe Day isn't officially celebrated until June 21st, The Living Desert is celebrating the tallest animal on the shortest day of the year-- December 21st. Join us at the Zoo for a special celebration, where in addition to learning about the many conservation projects The Living Desert and our partners are doing for giraffes, guests will have the unique opportunity from 8:00am to 9:30am to go into the giraffe habitat to see it from the inside out while the animals are off-habitat.
Did you know? Although giraffes are one of the most recognizable African species, their populations are in trouble, with wild populations numbering fewer than 100,000 individuals across the African continent. Their populations have declined up to 40% over the last 30 years, making them one of the world's most endangered large mammals.
Join us to learn what The Living Desert is doing to support these gentle giants and what you can do to help!
