World Giraffe Day — Desert Style

8:00am - 11:00am

Though World Giraffe Day isn't officially celebrated until June 21, The Living Desert Zoog and Gardens is celebrating the tallest animal on the shortest day of the year— December 21.

Join us at the Zoo for a special celebration, where you'll learn about the many giraffe conservation projects The Living Desert and our partners are leading. Guests will also have the unique opportunity to go onto the giraffe habitat from 8:00am - 10:00am to explore the savanna while the animals are off-habitat. Giraffe feeding will resume around 10:30am and animal care keepers will be on the feeding platform to chat with guests until 11:00am.

Did you know? Although giraffe are one of the most recognizable African species, their populations are in trouble, with wild populations numbering roughly 100,000 individuals across the African continent. Their populations have declined up to 40% over the last 30 years, making them one of the world's most endangered large mammals.

Join us to learn what The Living Desert is doing to support these gentle giants and what you can do to help!
