Today’s Hours: 7:00am – 1:30pm
The Black Mambas Anti-Poaching Unit, created by Transfrontier Africa, empowers women from local communities in South Africa to protect wildlife. Their work has been remarkably effective in removing snares and deterring poachers in the Olifants West Nature Reserve, part of Greater Kruger National Park.
Each year, the Wildlife Ranger Challenge (WRC) unites rangers across Africa in a 21km race, celebrating their dedication and raising critical support. On Saturday, September 20, 2025, women from the Black Mambas will proudly compete — and you’re invited to join the challenge desert-style at The Living Desert or from anywhere in the world!
1. In-Person at The Living Desert
Saturday, September 20
2. Virtually, from Anywhere
Begin your own 21km challenge starting September 6.
3. Couch > Cardio? You can still help protect wildlife with a Virtual Challenge donation!
By joining us, you’re not only supporting The Living Desert’s conservation programs but also standing alongside Transfrontier Africa and the Black Mambas Anti-Poaching Unit in their mission to protect wildlife and empower communities. Best of all, net proceeds from this event will go twice as far thanks to a generous matching fund — doubling your impact for conservation.
