World Giraffe Day 2025

Sunday, December 21

8:00 am - 9:30 am

Join The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens this Sunday, December 21, as we celebrate World Giraffe Day and raise awareness about the silent extinction facing the world’s tallest species.

🦒 Explore the giraffe habitat
🦒 Enjoy interactive learning stations
🦒 Experience special keeper connections
🦒 Catch a giraffe-themed storytime at the Conservation Station

All guests are invited to wear their best giraffe-themed attire!

Festivities begin at 8:00am and closed-toed shoes are strongly recommended for walking through the habitat — be sure to protect your hooves!

This event is free with membership or paid park admission.

*Please note, Giraffe Feeding will begin at 10:00am.

Eat Like a Giraffe

Want to help protect giraffe from home? Start with your plate. Eating more vegan and vegetarian meals — just like giraffe — can significantly reduce your climate impact. 🥬

Reducing our individual climate impact benefits animals all over the world, including the giraffe, who are threatened by disease and food scarcity resulting from climate change.

Even swapping red meat for plant-based meals once per week can reduce personal CO₂ emissions by up to 400 kg per year — the equivalent of flying 2,000 miles.

Stand tall for giraffe — at the Zoo and beyond.
